Another short half day with not much to say. It was a town day and I was keen to get there early to take in some real food, get showered and launder my clothes.

Continuing on the the same track, now with a different name, Cascdae Track, it was again easy walking. My pack was the lightest it’s been having only a a few nut bars left in my food bag and about 500ml of drinking water. I was cruising in good time.

Pretty much from the hut, the track ascends to Bob’s Ridge. Climbing was easy and once on top the first glimpses of the Main Range appeared, old snow but still velvety white hanging on to the southern faces.

Down the other side and the Thredbo River valley floor opened up. It was a bluebird sky day and perfect.

A few crossings of rivers, all bridged and I was soon onto the Alpine Way and at a trail head that would lead me into town. With 4km to go, I was flying, almost running in sections along a perfect little riverside track.

I was in town by 11am and headed straight to the bakery. Round one: a ham and cheese croissant and large cappuccino. Round 2: a bacon and egg roll and chocolate milkshake.

Tracking down the YHA I hung about there for a bit as checkin time wasn’t until 2pm, before heading to the Kosciusko Bar for a couple of schooners while I updated my blog.

It was so good to be in town with some real food and beer in the belly.

2 pm rolled around and I got checked. Upgraded to a larger room as there were some renovations underway with quite a bit of during business hours. I settled in but when enquiring about laundry I learned that the telstra network is down through out the area and the laundry at the YHA being connected to the telstra network for card payments is out of action. If not fixed today, I’ll be hand washing laundry tomorrow.

I headed back to the Kosi Bar for an expensive but well worth it steak dinner with the latgest serving of chips ever and another couple of rounds of beers. Life if good.
