13.0 miles
I am way behind in posting – apologies for that if you hang onto the edge of your chair waiting for the next post to see how this adventure turns out like I know you are.
A nice easy and cruisy day.
From Copper Mountain there is an 8 mile bitumen cycle path to Frisco. It was flat and shaded making for fast and easy hiking. It was the busiest damn cycle trail I’ve ever come across. Literally hundreds of cyclists of all shades – commuters, competitors, tandems, recumbent and even a few road skiers. I made sure to keep to the right.
A few short hours later I was in Frisco and headed for a cafe for coffee and cake being mid morning. I hit up Walmart for a new SD card for my GoPro smashed a burger for lunch before walking onto Dillon.
The same cycle path continued and it was only another couple of hours to reach Dillon. The water reservoir always in view.

Initially I sought out a cheap hotel but on arrival found they were fully booked up. It’s Friday and Dillon / Silverthorne are popular get away destinations which I hadn’t considered. I had multiple other options but most would entail additional foot travel which I couldn’t be bothered with. The easiest option and the most expensive was the option I chose, checking into the Quality Inn. They seemed the best and only place central to other places I needed to visit – supermarket and REI. I thought Copper Mountain was expensive. A king room at the Quality Inn beats it – Happy Birthday me. They were also almost booked out, a king room the only thing available. I had better get back to hiking and the comfort of my tent and sleeping bag quick smart.
